If you look at a map of Texas, the eastern half of the state appears full and the western half empty. I made these photographs while briefly living in the empty half. I explored the expansive, often lonely landscape of the west half of Texas; isolated small towns loosely strung together by ranch roads and the remains of frontier forts in between.
